GENERAL INFORMATION
"Chels" Registered Thoroughbred Filly Gray Y16 Born 16hh |
Chels is the air-head of the Y16 crop. Unfortunately, Chels was kicked in the head by her dam when she was a baby, so her take on life is a little bit slower than the rest of the Y16 string. Once she understands the concept of what you are trying to ask, she does understand it for life. Because of her late development and cranial injury as a foal, Chels tosses her head a lot whether it be under saddle or in hand. However, she does stand nicely when you are trying to mount - probably because she got distracted staring at nothing in the distance. Chels is a bit skittish when it comes to cell phone ringers, so they either have to be on very low or on vibrate as to not scare her too much - however we don't want to baby her too much since she needs to get over her fears. Chels is very food-motivated and will do anything for some grass or a nice apple and carrot bran mash.

racing informationBecause Chels has a somewhat 'slow' mentality, she's usually the one breaking last and trailing the field early on. It takes her a little bit of extra time to process things but once she's out of the gates she's hot on everyone's tails like a rocket. Chels likes to run two or three horses wide on the track just so she has a clearer path to run even though it means expending a little bit more energy. She is incredibly fit so running wide doesn't affect her too much. Chels likes to start her run early on before the last turn so as she rounds the final turn she has enough power stored up to surge forwards and get that late kick most horses struggle to perform.
