General Information
"Lock" Registered Thoroughbred Colt Y19 Born Dark Bay 16.2hh |
Gridlock is the definition of tall, dark and handsome. He wasn't always a looker though. At the beginning, Grid was quite the ugly duckling as his ass was always taller than the rest of him throughout his early growth and he never appeared like he would grow into his long legs. He can thank his dam for all of that awkwardness as Headstrong was a towering 17 hand tall mare who took forever to fill out herself. Gridlock is surprisingly unlike his sire, Saintly Touch. He doesn't have any of that aloofness or ferocity. He's not a mean horse when it comes to his cohorts and is actually one of the lowest horses on the totem pole. Grid is a pure coward when it comes to conflict, turning the other way if a horse even hints at coming after him. Known for his puppy dog personality in the barn, Gridlock is the horse that will nicker loudly for treats and fall asleep while being pet. Ripley had concerns matching the Night Stalker line with that of War Admiral, but they've been proven to be unfounded in the face of Grid's lovey-dovey persona.

Racing InformationOn the track, Gridlock loses all of his awkwardness. He is a confident racehorse with disciplined elegance. He just floats over the ground as if he were out for a jaunt in the park, flicking his ears about his head as if to ask "This is all?". Grid is an average breaker and seems to settle wherever he ends up without question. Sometimes he's a closer, sometimes mid pack and sometimes, on his sharper days, Grid will end up on the lead. He's more push-button than either his dam or sire in this regard. The humans can tell him what to do and he'll go along with the plan, making him an excellent co-strategist. Don't think for one second that although he is laid back, Gridlock lacks for speed. It was a fear of his connections once upon a time, but he quickly disproved that fear. He's a swift horse when he gets going, taking 1 stride to every other horses 2. The longer he goes, the stronger and more aggressive he gets. You can guarantee that Gridlock will be flying by the final turn, where centrifugal force will carry him wide. Straightening up for home, Grid is a sight to behold as he'll lengthen himself out, pin his ears flat to his head and surge for the wire as if all the kindness prior was just a front to his secret master plan to rule the world.
