General Information
"Smokey" Registered Thoroughbred Filly Y20 Born Bay 17.1hh |
Smoke And Mirrors was a highly anticipated cross for Firestone. Bringing two of our first ever crop of horses together was a bittersweet yet highly emotional and rewarding day for Carter and his wife. Smokey was one of the biggest fillies that they had bred in a long time and one of the most complicated births for her dam. We're not sure where the height came from, but Smokey certainly picked up the chrome from her mother. Smokey can be a bit of a handful sometimes, especially when excited, and can be hard to contain. She's like a bomb waiting to be detonated. Smokey isn't dainty by any means, but is certainly full of herself when it comes to her looks. This filly knows she's hot shit, even when she's covered in mud after a race. Nothing can kill her confidence, which is what makes her so special! Smokey is a thinker and is always asking keen to be doing her job. She requires a lot of repetition and games added to her daily routine or else she gets bored and into trouble! Frozen snacks, especially watermelon, are her favourite thing to keep busy along with her Hay Ball, which she happily pushes around her stall or paddock. Smokey doesn't need others to keep herself busy - as they say your own company is the best company!

Racing InformationThe track is where Smoke And Mirrors gets to show off her best looks and talent. She's always on her toes and is a standout in any field just based on her size and massive white face alone. People will often mistake Smokey for a stallion based on her conformation which seems to intimidate a lot of other people. Smokey almost always dwarfs the other horses in the gates and fills up the empty space quickly. She is never intimidated by the small chute and shuffles once in a while in anticipation of the start. This horse will run on any type of dirt - sloppy, fast, good, muddy, slow, you name it and she's skipping across it like butter. Smokey likes to get in other horses' faces during a race to intimidate them, which makes her the perfect dueler. She's tenacious when it comes to battling for the lead and will seriously dig in until she's broken free from her competition. There's no questions asked if her jockey finds them in a sticky situation, Smokey is very elastic and will trust her rider until the very last second. Despite her size, she's never slow to make moves and will slide all over the track to fight for the win.
