General Information
"Eros" Registered Thoroughbred Colt Y20 Born Bay 17hh |
Eros, just like the Greek god, is the biggest flirt on the farm by a long shot. He knows that he's tall, dark, and handsome and takes full advantage of it. As much as Eros loves the ladies, he's a complete gentleman and does not act out or become 'studdish' at all. One look at his soft, brown eyes and you'll fall in love with him instantly. Eros is a barn favourite just based on his personality alone and is always one of the friendliest of his crop. Yes, he does strike a pose and whinny a few words of seduction at first, but Eros is quick to respect a gentle reminder once in a while. He's a cuddle bug in the barn and can stand for hours being brushed and pampered over until his coat gleams from all angles. Eros gets along with pretty much every horse he's been around and enjoys the company during turnout, especially the company of our donkey, Drake. Eros has been caught napping beside the gelding almost every time before a race and Drake often gives him words of encouragement. He looks up to his stablemate Saturn and hopes one day he can be as Instagram famous as he is (or so we like to think!). Eros has a fantastic work ethic and is always game to try something new, no questions asked. The staff has trained him to seek the bridle on his own, and he automatically positions himself at the mounting block when asked. He's quite the little trick pony and is a jack of all trades.

Racing InformationEros is as easy going in the paddock as he is at home, taking in his surroundings with ease even with the busy crowd surrounding the walking ring. Once in a while Eros can get distracted around the track, he is a stallion after all, but adding blinkers really seemed to help the colt keep his focus. Gate training was never a problem for him and rarely needs encouraging to get him in. He will stand calmly for everyone else to load and never fails to beg the gate handler for some pets while they wait. Once Eros gets what he wants, his game face goes on. He's quite attentive and picks up on the patterns of the gate crew so he knows exactly when to coil his springs and leap out. The colt's breaks are swift and clean, but you'll never see him right at the front. He likes to keep his distance and survey the crowd before making any brash decisions. Eros doesn't mind getting a little dirty from backsplash because he doesn't let it get to him. The colt is a relatively simple and easy ride; a few shakes of the reins coming around the backstretch allows him to prepare for the sprint ahead. With enough warning, Eros can blast to the front within a few surging strides thanks to his height, just in time to overtake the leaders. Eros likes to pull away as fast as possible and can put distance between him and the field without a second glance.
